Paws Up (no pun intended)

Working at Paws Up is an adventure unto itself. If you aren’t dealing with the Prince and Princess of some country, a ridiculously irate guest, an ATV, raft or truck roll over it’s animals. Animals are their own treat as well as hazard to this place. Deer and elk are all over the roads, ground squirrels create ginormous holes for cows/horses/people to trip in, locusts, flies, mosquitos and other bugs make you crazy with their large numbers and you always have your big animals to worry about. Today we had two mountain lions running around our main reception area and restaurants. Fish and Game does not allow them to frequent areas occupied by humans as they tend to eat them after a while. This mountain and possibly its sibling were seen twice last night and once this afternoon by people. Fish and Game came out, tracked it and shot it within 100 yards of our Maintenance Garage where it’d been hanging out since yesterday. I was really sad that they couldn’t sedate it, but as the situation escalated quickly the tracker was left no choice but to shoot it.
