So, for all you who are travel crazy, what words of wisdom do you have? Kelly said, "Don't rent a car" and so we did... ;) but we're totally open to any other ideas, especially cause we will probably end up being typical dumb American travelers and are expecting at least one run in with the police. What should you pack!? I wanna look fashionable, but we're not going to have lots of luggage room. I'm thinking flats, summer dresses and a big purse that can double as our travel bag? Jeff is worried about having a plug in for his straightener-do we need to bring an adapter or have they moved up to our US standards?

Oh my G-ness. I am SO jealous and happy for you guys at the same time!!! You will LOVE it out there. I wish we could come with you. Here is what I know, however, it has been almost 10 years since I have been there. So take it for what it's worth:
-You need an adapter.
-Don't rent a car for Paris, just use the metro-oh so fun and EASY (once you get the hang of it) system.
-Drive through the Swiss Alps when going to Italy. It's the most gorgeous place you will have ever seen.
-Be careful when driving through those Alps. The roads can be skinny and other drivers (especially buses) are crazy.
-Pack light cuz you will get tired of carrying everything around. How long you going for? You prolly can just do laundry there if it's more than 7 days.
-I think flats and summer dresses are perfect. It will give you good packing room and you will be happy with what you have to wear.
-Bring sweaters though. It can get cold up in the mountains and at night.
-Make sure to go for a walk down the Champs-Elysees.
-Scope out your best places to exchange money and understand what the currency is so you know how cheap/expensive things are (you can lose a lot of moola just from exchanging-hotels are usually NOT the best places)
-Visit the Chateau de Chenanceau (just outside Paris I believe) and make sure you pay the buck or two to take the canoe around in the mote. It's so fun and ROMANTIC (since you get to be there with your hubby).
-Get a GPS that works for Western Europe. Since you are driving it'll come in real handy.
If I think of anymore I will let you know. BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new look on your blog.
Jeff straightens his hair? What the heck is a straightener and why would he need one? I went 6 weeks with no razor, make-up, or fingernail clippers and I still survived.
Wow, so fun! Can't wait to hear ALL about it!
i am SO jealous! you're going to have a blast! yes, you'll need to get an adapter. but they're pretty cheap! if i could give one word of advice when traveling to europe is to stay in hostels (they're SUPER inexpensive) and to eat as little as possible...you'll gain weight really fast and food is expensive. HAVE TONS OF FUN! i'm so excited for you!
