"Remember Me?"
By Sophie Kensella, who also wrote "Confessions of a Shopaholic"
A 28 year old girl wakes up and finds herself in a hospital from a car accident. The last thing she remembers was being 25 and out drinking with her friends. However, she slowly finds out that she has amnesia and the last three years are a blur. In the last three years she's lost weight, fixed her teeth, fallen in love and got married to a millionaire, and been promoted to head honcho at work. Sadly-she can't remember how she got there or what to do now. Traditional chick book-she realizes the high life isn't the life for her, she falls in love with someone else, saves her friends from almost certain doom, finds a way to deal with her psycho little sister and mom, gains back the weight and lives happily forever after in sin with her new lover. Tada! Watch out for swear words and a scene or two with her husband that will make you appreciate your own. Easy read-took me a day.

"Small Town Girl"

First off, whats up with the first name of the author? It's just a little much. Anyway, she's a good author so that's alright. But there's an irritating part to the story. She's a famous singer coming home to take care of her mom. The neighbor boy she was mean to has grown up and moved back... but he's lived there his whole life.. or something, and even though it's only been 9 months since she's come to visit her Mom, this neighbor boy has basically become the son she never had and suddenly it's a surprise to her even though he's been around. I don't get that part... it doesn't QUITE add up. He's also holding an 19 year old grudge. Kind of annoying. But, that's OK. It's a fluff book with no real substance to it so I wasn't expecting much. But, I will say it was a cute story and would make an adorable movie.

Apparently someone who comes into work enjoys her books because there were two of them. I tried to read a few of the other books left on the table but I haven't been able to stomach the thought of "Twilight" quite yet, though I told Heather I would, and the other books were horrible. Couldn't keep page turning after the first few. So, I picked up this one. If you threw one of those classic romance novel pictures on the front you'd be all set for a borderline romance novel. At least in the book they're married so it's not quite as slutty. So the story is that a 17 year old girl is taking care of her 13 year old brother as they live orphaned and penniless in Boston. It's 1850, and desperate to get out of their situation they write to a man in Minnesota seeking a "mail-order bride." He likes her letters and doesn't suspect they're full of lies, and once she gets there they fall in love. But as her secrets are slowly revealed they experience a rough first year of marriage-will they be able to stay in love? Will Karl forgive her for lying? Will she learn to like bathing? Does she get her stove in the new cabin? Will she be eaten by wolves while picking blueberries?! IS THAT BEAR AT HER DOOR!?!? So many questions, but you'll have to read the book to find the answers.
"Where the Heart Is"

I think it became a movie years ago and you've probably seen it, but here's the run down. A 17 year old girl gets dumped by her loser boyfriend in a strange town when they stop at Wal Mart. He's a total screw up and eventually ends up in jail. Meanwhile, she doesn't have a home or anyone to call so she just ends up living in Wal Mart. The catch? She's 7 months pregnant. I enjoyed it, despite the fact that Oprah stuck her stupid name on it for her book club. The story is good, you really end up liking this girl a lot and you love that karma rewards her in the end and karma gets the loser boyfriend as well. There was a scene towards the end that I really could have done without-but I didn't know til after I read it. Besides that, good read.

"Common Sense"
By Glenn Beck
You shouldn't have to read this book to gain a little common sense, but well, I guess some people do. Like maybe me :) By the way-I'm only part way through it is actually the last book I'm reading for my list. I really like Glenn Beck. Just this summer he got rid of that horrid Van Jones, he is toasting ACORN, and he's brought to light many of the horrible things that are going on with the government. He's really helping America out. His book is great-it doesn't side with either party, it just points out basic facts that are wrong with the government and why it's wrong. I am really enjoying it-even if you hate his show (how could you?) you really ought to read this book. Seriously-hands down it's the most fulfilling book I've read and extremely thought provoking. I've called the White House twice already.

Your range of books are quite funny. I love the review for the LaVyrne (whatever her name was) book with the bears and the blueberries. I read Where the Heart Is when I worked at Borders and then watched the movie afterwards. I could not figure out why they changed certain things. (Her unlucky number in the book is seven but in the movie it is five - or something like that - it's been awhile). Anyhow, I'm reading Common Sense right now so next time we get together we can talk about it. I haven't called the White House yet though.
Hey!! Some of those books sound really interesting. I wish I had more time to read for fun. I have read Where the heart is as well, I agree, it is a good read. Nice job on completing your book reading goal!!
