Last July my friend Shelby called me up and asked me if I wanted to run a marathon with her in January. I'd been thinking for an uber long time that was something I'd been wanting to do, but I just didn't have the motivation to either train for it, or run 26.2 miles.
Well, I committed, and since then we've been running religiously on Saturday mornings together. For the first time ever a few weeks ago I ran farther than five miles. I'd only ever even run five miles once, and after accomplishing that, felt it was a one time, "I did it" event. This morning we ran eight miles. I can't tell you how good it feels when you are done to look at your stats and know you roughly burned 700-800 calories, kept a decent pace, and ran eight miles. Next week we are going for nine, and then in October we'll run our first half marathon. The best part of running is when you take your dog (Chunky has a three mile limit) and your friends, and end with a bagel or Cinnabon. That makes the whole day complete.

Way to go!!! What an accomplishment! Keep it up... marathons are only a mental game:) You totally can do it.
What marathon are you doing in January? I'm on the waiting list to do the Jan. 1st marathon in Kingwood. If I don't get in, I don't know what to try next! I'm signed up for a half marathon in Galveston in Nov. It feels good to push yourself to do something you never thought you could do. Awesome job on your run. I ran 9 miles this morning, but I'm experiencing more pain this time around training.
