How to Change Your Comment Form

Everyone loves to get comments, but some blogs are easier to comment on than others. I feel like it's easier for me personally to comment on a blog that has a tiny pop up window, otherwise I find myself clicking "Comment," then having to scroll back down to the bottom, leave a comment, choose a profile, click "POST" then wait for the verification to load, then go back down to the bottom, type in the w-get my drift? Sometimes I would leave a comment but it's too much work. I'm that lazy.
So first, log into blogger so you see your dashboard. It's the first screen. Pick the blog you want to edit, and click on "Settings." You will see several options towards the top, like "basic," "formatting," "comments," and such. You are going to play with the comments so click on "Comments."
You'll see a lot of options on that page.
Arrow 1 is "Comments." You want people to see your comments, so leave it at "Show."
Arrow 2 is "Who can Comment?" I chose "anyone." It makes it easier for people who don't have a gmail account to leave a comment. It also leaves more chances for spam. Oh well-that's why there is a spam filter! :)
Arrow 3 is where you can change your comment form to pop-up! The options are fairly obvious as to what your readers will see, but "pop up" means that instead of switching pages, your comment form will just pop up. Simple. Easy. Convenient.
The rest of the options in the comment setting are fun to play with. Like where it says, "Comment Form." Whatever you type there, people will see when they go to leave a comment in your new pop up window. I put, "Comments make me feel warm and fuzzy!" Not that anyway reads it, but it's there if they do. If you are getting a bunch of weirdo's commenting on your blog, you can change the comment moderation. That means if someone leaves a comment, it will show up in your comment filter first, where you will have to approve it before it is posted. Or, if you have your comments emailed to you it will email it as well.
At the bottom you will see where you have the option "Comment Notification Email." If you want comments sent to your email, put your email address there. They don't spam you, so whatever one you use the most is best. Then, make sure you click "Save Settings." And done. You have a pop up comment post, your comments are emailed to you, and life goes on!
Super easy!

I agree that the pop-up comment window is so much nicer than scrolling all the way down to leave a comment. Thanks for posting the how-to...maybe more people will fix it now.

Is this just a ploy to get me to comment? :)
