My dear friend Sonia is marrying her true love this October. And she asked me to be a bridesmaid. I have been excited about this wedding since Tyson proposed last fall.
It seemed so far away last year when he asked her-but since her bridal shower was this last Saturday I realized how much closer it is. It's roughly two months away. This is great news for Sonia and Tyson. This is daunting news for my waistline. You see, that baby I had a few months ago made me gain forty pounds. OK, OK, he didn't make me, but I'm blaming him. It has nothing to do with the fact that up until December, I was burning fifteen hundred or more calories every Saturday morning by running fifteen miles or so, and biking as many. Then we went on Christmas vacation where I stuffed myself silly as if I was still running. Then January came around and I still stuffed myself silly, only I decided I'd rather not run unless I was being chased. Oops. I still blame the baby. What does this have to do with a spaghetti cake? Nothing-unless you count the fact that the meatballs were made of red velvet and I wanted to eat ten. But only ate two. Which does not help the waistline situation at all. That cake, by the way, was amazing.
Anyway, the point is that I bought a dress that is two sizes two small. It's my pre-baby size. Which means I have ten pounds, or a few inches to go to fit into it, unless I wanna show up at her wedding with my dress unzipped in the back. Which, Sonia said was not allowed. That's the status of the blue dress right now. It doesn't zip. I have a lot, a lot of wogging to do.
But anyway, I am super, super excited about this wedding, and I am super, super excited for Tyson and Sonia. I have never seen her happier than she is with him. They bring out the best in each other and it's absolutely adorable.
And so was her bridal shower. The theme was Italian, and it was cute! Everything was so well planned, and I was having the time of my life. Her sister went all out, and I think it's safe to say that everyone left happy, especially Sonia. She got some amazing, thoughtful gifts, we got to celebrate her marriage, be with friends, and eat cake. It doesn't get any better than that!!! Unless someone tells me there were zero calories in the cake, the bread, the ravioloi and cheese covered chicken I ate... it's OK-I am starting a diet on Monday...
