Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the spirit of being grateful, I love the feast, I love that it gives a beautiful farewell to fall and leaves arms open for winter, and I love that our family is almost always together. This is one of the first times in years that we haven't gone backpacking for Thanksgiving. My Dad started that tradition years and years ago, and I'm always a little bummed when we don't go. I am also bummed that I didn't do a single bit of Black Friday shopping. Except online. Usually my sisters and I map out an entire plan, but this year we just weren't up for it.
Jeff and I drove out to Midland to my brother's. I love their new house! The dining room was the set the best atmosphere. Twistan's first Thanksgiving! We set him in the baby walker, and once I lowered the legs to his height he RAN like crazy all over the house the whole night. I was just dying. He is seriously the cutest child I have ever seen.
I thought these would be cute appetizers for the girls. They were no where NEAR as good as my amazing sweet potatoes, but they photographed cuter. The food this year, as always, was amazing. We all agreed that while everything was delicious, the sweet potatoes and homemade gravy were to die for. I drank the leftover gravy later. After dinner we read from the Thanksgiving tree. All month long the girls wrote little notes of what they were thankful for. Twistan, Jeff and I were mentioned at least twice. Love those girls! I hope ya'll all had a marvelous Thanksgiving holiday-grateful to the two of you who still read my blog!!! :)
Love Anna
