My Baby is One!

It is heart breaking to write that! But you can't stop time, and here he is, all grown up, walking, throwing food at the dog, saying "no" when he plays in the dog's water, hugs his Mom, says "Dada" to Jeff with the biggest smile on his face, loves his monkey and is overall, the cutest thing on this Earth. I can't believe it was a year ago that I laid eyes on him the first time. I loved him from the moment we knew he existed, and fell even more in love with him when I saw him. I felt so lucky, so privileged to have that little baby be mine. Even though it was a really, really rough delivery I remember looking at him, just hours old, thinking I'd do it all over again a hundred times to just have that baby. Oh how this baby makes my heart happy! It's crazy to think how much has changed with him in the last year! He's gotten so grown up and fun to be around. We celebrated a lot of his birthday yesterday, but I thought I'd try to do a few little things with him today for his birthday. We started the day off with some errands. I think he was bored with that.
Later on we went to the park... he was soooo cute trying to walk across this particular tunnel, he was so careful-as if he was going to fall through the little holes.
We went up and down the stairs a million times at the park. He is super into them, and going down the slide. He doesn't need my help anymore, he knows how to sit on the edge and scoot himself over. I hardly even catch him at the bottom now! Tristan is so brave.
We took Chunky for a walk. Or, rather, Chunky took Tristan for a walk.
Waaaaaaaait! Come back!
Then we went and got a balloon. I thought he'd be way more into than he was. He liked it, but he wasn't obsessed.
Then we went to McDonald's for his first Happy Meal. Jeff and I thought for sure he'd enjoy it. Um. No. He cried when we tried to give him fries or chicken. No, seriously. He cried. He wouldn't touch them. Instead, he drank the chocolate milk and ate my parfait and apples. That's my son!
For dessert we took him to Cinnabon. I thought it fitting because I ate so many when I was pregnant with him. Jeff is convinced that is where the curl on his head came from.
Shortly after Cinnabon he decided he was done. I took Jeff back to school and took the baby home. Our little neighbors came over to wish him a happy birthday. They love him. They come by almost every day asking if they can take him for a walk. It's cute.
I know he won't remember today, but I hope he had fun. He sure is the cutest thing I have ever laid eyes on. Happy birthday, baby!

Love Anna
