July 4th

We took more photos than this, but they're scattered and have to be resized, so I am just going to go with these.  I was in Midland for the 4th, and Jeff was in Ozona at a 24 hour rig working.  He could have come home, but it would have been 4 hours of driving for less than 24 hours, so we figured it'd be better for him to stay put and sleep a little more.  Instead, we ran to a pancake breakfast at church, and then I kinda threw a fit that we had to go to a parade with a fire truck.  I just. Wanted. A. Firetruck.  So we drove out to downtown Odessa and caught the best parade ever.  It had floats, a band, a firetruck (A SINGLE firetruck), some Scouts, some horses, and then it ended about as quick as it began.  And it was threatening to rain, so it was cloudy and cool.  No hot, sweaty sun, no sitting there for hours while kids try to run in the street and get killed for candy, and we were done quick! I love Odessa.
I hadn't planned on what we were doing for the fourth yet, so I forgot to bring some patriotic clothing for myself. I didn't even have a white shirt.  I know it's stupid, but I was having problems functioning on the fourth of July in a grey shirt.  It seemed so communistic to me.  So Tonia and I dropped the kids off with Ben and ran to Ross.  I ended up with a cute polka dot shirt that I love.

Midland had a beautiful firework display.. which we enjoyed in front of a very large and loud concert put on by the oil companies.  While it was awesome, it would have been more awesome if we didn't have 6 kids and my dog there.  It was just too loud for their little ears after several hours.  They did have some awesome kids festivities and we had a blast everywhere else.  Overall, the holiday had BBQ, pancakes, a parade, a pool, fireworks, a concert, and glow sticks.  The kids all went to bed exhausted and so did the adults.

Happy Fourth :)
Love Anna
