It was September 17, 2007. A day to remember for always, not because it was the day that Jeff officially turned really, really old (26! I can't even imagine what its like to be that old, I still have YEARS to go before I get there), but because it was the day that the TV cratered. There we were ... awaiting the arrival of friends for Jeff's birthday dinner when it happened.
Let's go back.
So remember the time Jeff and I hauled a 130lb. 32inch TV across the nation, driving 4400 miles, crossing numerous states, surviving rainstorms, lightening, dark clouds, inchworms, me dropping my side of the TV 10 times, shifting it in and out a hundred times as well as a puddle of water? Seems like it was only.... last week.... well, the brave little TV made it to Rexburg, up two flights of stairs, through one video and a couple hours of cable (No Mom, it wasn't the show that we were watching that made it turn off) before it went "BleeeOOOoop!" and turned itself off forever.
It was tragic.
Jeff cried... I kicked it.... and somewhere in the distance a bagpipe played. I offered to help Jeff throw it over the balconey so we didn't have to move it anymore, but he said we should give the poor thing one last chance and take it to the TV hospital. I told him A. Over my dead body and B. I'd rather run over puppies with the truck before I moved that thing again. He was very convincing however with puppy dog eyes and we ended up using 30 curse words and brute strength to get it back into the truck and then very happily I dumped it off at the TV fixer place.
So now that we don't have a TV we've been forced to do nothing but productive things-in fact, Jeff has been STUDYING! So far we've gone hiking at Jenny Lake, canoeing, fishing, bonfiring, shopping, reading, studying (wierd.....(or is it weird?)), reading, exploring, dunking, hooking, thank you-ing, and cleaning. I've been trying to comfort Jeff since then-after all, Amish people do this all the time.
I guess this isn't so weird after all.. neither of us had cable growing up (our moms chopped the cords with scissors...) and since we've been honeymooning for 5 weeks we haven't watched but minutes of television anyway. I guess we'll just have to revert to going outside and entertaining ourselves.
