155000 Miles

There are two kinds of people in the world. People who care when their car's odometers hit high miles and people who do not care. I am one of those who care so much they pull over for pictures. Last night driving home from Katy my car hit 155,000 miles. And I caught it at that moment! Usually I notice at 154,992 miles and think to myself, "I gotta notice when it hits the 000!!" and then I look down and it's 155,001. But not this time. I got it on the dot. I bought this car (or should I say my Dad did...) 5 years ago for the cool price of $5,125 when it only had 59,000 miles on it. Since then:
I've put 96,000 miles on it
Which is an average of 1600 miles a month or
50 trips between Idaho and Texas
I've bought around 4,173 gallons of gas
At a cost of roughly $10,432

Back when it was new. My shirt matched!

Of course, it isn't nearly as shiny now as it was back in the day. There are multiple dents, the paint is peeling and it's a day by day call as to what electric item is going to work or not. But, it's got some good stories as to why it's so ugly. My brother and I shared it the summer he came home from his mission and we lived in Jackson (where is also earned the name "the dumb purple car). While I was on a trip with a friend, he ran into a deer and the hood has never been the same. The apartments I lived in in Utah had one parking spot that was only accessible if you were the only car in the lot. One desperate night I decided to park there. Sadly the next day as I was late for work I ran out of time to knock on all the neighbors doors to have everyone shuffle their cars so I could get out of the spot. I did the Austin Powers 100 point turn, but still had to sacrifice the weather stripping on the passenger side. There is still paint on the fence it scraped. I could go on, but I will spare you all the details of why my car looks the way and it does and will suffice it to say that, "It's been a good car."

Lol, remember my car accident with Roy and the cop thought your purple car was part of it also?

I love good ole down memory lane stories, especially car stories. The stories even get better when you have shared your car with siblings:)!

My old college car was a yellow Toyota. We called her "Yoda" for short. I miss her.

My dad's car hit 300,000 and I was driving it. I also pulled over on the side of the highway for pictures. :-D
