10 for Texas

This last Saturday Shelby and I ran in the Ten for Texas 10 mile run through The Woodlands. It's the very first running race I have done, aside from a triathlon I did a few years ago. I think I've mentioned before that I am not much of a runner, I prefer the term "wogging." So just to even register for the race and think I could do it was an accomplishement for me. But after running in this race I can see why people love this sport so much. There is just something so fun being with hundreds of other people, seeing all the runners there for good causes, and having perfect strangers cheer you on like you're the first runner they've seen. I loved the atmosphere and feeling like the hard work I've put in the last couple months finally came together. I've never run that far in my entire life, and it was so fun to think I was going to finally hit the double digits. The first six miles were the easiest part, I was able to keep going without taking a break, with the exception of the bathrooms. But about mile seven I could feel myself getting pretty tired and I ended up running and walking for a couple miles. Overall, my time was about 2:04, or a 12:48 pace, which isn't great. But honestly, I just wanted to finish. Even if I walked the whole way. Probably someday I'll work on being a little faster, but for right now I am satisfied that I finished. In two weeks we're going to run the Huntsville Half Marathon, I am super stoked about that.
Love Anna

WHAT, you're pregnant! Where have I been?! Congrats!!! I would NOT have been able to do that race pregnant or not...I did a 5K once, and for me THAT was a miracle. You make me want to get into running again...unfortunately it is kind-of the wrong season up here....
