I mentioned that I had some squirrels living in a bag in my bathroom. Four, to be exact. Their names are Santa Paws, Furbat, Rishu and Stunk. We got them about 15 months ago while we were living in Idaho. Some poor sap was getting married and his fiance was kicking them to the curb, and by curb I mean to the BYUI bulletin board. So Jeff found them and used my
birthday as an excuse to get them
(see this post). Which is convenient for him when we have to clean their cage, because suddenly they're "
my" squirrels. They are also
my squirrels when they bark at 3am and when the door accidentally is left open and they escape to poop on all things they shouldn't.

We originally started out with two squirrels, debated on their names
(they were originally Bonnie and Clyde, Steve and Bindi, etc), eventually Ebayed the naming rights for one, and then decided to get them fixed so we would only have two. Unfortunately, we didn't get Paws neutered in time and we ended up with Rishu this last summer. We named Rishu after Sierra's imaginary squirrel friend. So, we went to get Paws "taken care of" this last September, but apparently, not fast enough and this fall Stunk was born. Stunk got her name because Storie always asks to see the "Stunks." She calls them that because they stink. I tried to correct her and tell her they were squirrels, not skunks, but she kept telling me, "No, they stunk." So we named the baby Stunk. I don't have the heart to break up the little family so now we have four.

Anyway, we've had them for quite some time and they've had quite the adventures in the last year. Furbat has fallen in the toilet twice, and once into a bucket of Mr. Clean. They've driven across country twice, lived in a hotel bathroom, and doubled their family. They usually have a strict diet of frozen squirrel food cubes that I lovingly blend for them, but occasionally they enjoy chili and lasagna-they hate strawberries. They also enjoy rides on the ceiling fan, and can open cupboard doors. So if you are in need of a cute, fun little pet, get yourself some sugar gliders!
