Helping Haiti

Unless you've been chilling under a rock or glued to American Idol, you know that there has been a horrible earthquake in Haiti. And it was really bad. There is a major need right now for relief efforts of all sizes and all kinds. I know it seems like there isn't much that we can do when we're so far away, but every little bit helps. I am planning on putting together a couple hygiene kits. And maybe I'll forgo the shoes I've been eyeing and send over a few extra dollars as well. I know I don't have much to contribute, but reading the news and hearing the heartbreaking stories makes me want to do something. My sister, Tiffany, is doing to donate two dollars for every link that is posted on her site that shows another blog post about what that person is going to do to help Haiti (aside from her goal to put together 20 humanitarian kits with her kids). Right now the major need is food, water and shelter for those people that have been affected. If you want to help, here are a couple links you can follow for ideas:

Sometimes it seems in this giant world that we're just little people and our efforts are too small to matter. But if all of us did one little thing to help, it would turn into a great big thing. By small and simple things shall great things be brought to pass, right?

Have you ever heard of DMAT-Disaster Medical Team? They take all kinds of people (not just medical) to disaster places to given aid and relief. I have been looking into it some, but don't think I can do it right now with school. Let me know if you want more info...

Such a small amount equals so much there...I'm hoping that everything that people are doing will get where it needs to be.
