While we were down in Houston in May we went to as Jeff says, "The best Texas BBQ I have ever been to." There were a TON of people, fishing, swimming, volleyball, so much food you ate yourself silly, and of course, good company. In the chaos of loading up 5 kids, I forgot both cameras. I remembered roughly around Downtown and Jeff refused to turn around. Lame. Thankfully, Tyson had his camera and took these amazing photos... which he was sweet enough to share with me. Aw! And we were so glad they invited us out-it really was the best ever. Tyson and Sonia know how to throw a party.
Now.. at this particular BBQ I thought for some reason it'd be cute to wear a white skirt. With 5 kids. Who all had BBQ and other foods that stain. They also assumed that because my skirt was white it was also a napkin. Sonia was happy smirking to herself about how clean she was staying, and how glad she was she didn't have kids to cover her in BBQ. Apparently, God thought that was cute, so He changed the gentle breeze into a mini gale, and....
My entire plate of BBQ went flying and literally landed smack onto the center of Sonia's chest. Sauce covered BBQ went all over the inside and outside of her adorable white shirt. (Who wears white to a BBQ, anyway?)
I think we learned a valuable lesson here. Kids do not throw plates of BBQ sauce, Karma does.
Sonia made a full recovery, although I haven't actually heard about the status of the shirt. I hope it made a recovery. We spent the afternoon herding babies away from the pond. It was far more tempting than the baby pool someone had set up for them. The big kids spent almost the whole day playing on the big slide so we didn't see much of them. When the kids discovered someone had brought a watermelon, they were the happiest children on the planet.... of course, it was after they'd dried off and changed into semi clean clothes.
You can see Tristan in this photo... "Wait what!? Uh hello! I'm back here! Take a picture of me!"
Who do you think you are, taking a picture of another kid!?
It was so hard to leave. It was like every time we tried, someone would show up with cupcakes, or watermelon, or hot dogs... or a hay ride... and I couldn't drag us away til we'd done it all.
The kids enjoyed the hayride, although Andie did not like the scratchy stuff touching her.
Neither did Jeff.
It was the funnest day ever and we had so much fun!!! The kids talked about the water slide, food, paddle boat and hayride for days. They asked if we could go back. Maybe next year. And next year we won't wear white.

Awwww, I bet the kids had more fun in Texas than they would have had in China. Cute pictures. And, yeah, who would wear white to a BBQ event? Oh, yeah, first time moms and no-kids yet brides. Experience is a good teacher.
